Marigold / African Marigold / Tagetes
Tagetes erecta
Tagetes marigold is the richest source of lutein and zeaxanthin — carotenoids with anti-cancer activity against breast, lung, and skin cancers, and strong protective effects on eyes damaged by cancer treatment. Thiophenes from marigold roots show potent anti-tumour and antifungal activity. Different from Calendula (pot marigold) — Tagetes is the African/French marigold.
