Disputed Protocols

Disputed & Controversial Protocols

Protocols widely circulated online that patients frequently ask about — covered honestly. What proponents claim, what evidence actually shows, regulatory warnings, and known risks.

Our goal is harm reduction, not dismissal. Where real evidence exists — even preliminary — we present it honestly. Where protocols are dangerous, we say so clearly. Always discuss any protocol with your oncologist before trying it.

RSO — Rick Simpson Oil

Rick Simpson Oil · Cannabis Oil

Plausible but Unproven

RSO is a thick, dark cannabis extract made by soaking cannabis plant material in a solvent (typically naphtha or isopropyl alcohol) and then evaporating the solvent. Named after Canadian Rick Simpson, who claimed in 2003 that he cured his own basal cell carcinoma by applying homemade cannabis oil topically. RSO is typically very high in THC (60–90%) with variable CBD content, unlike medical CBD products.

Hydrogen Peroxide Therapy

H2O2 Therapy · Oxidative Therapy

Potentially Dangerous

Proponents use hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in two main ways: orally (drops of 35% 'food grade' H2O2 diluted in water, taken several times daily) or intravenously (dilute H2O2 dripped directly into a vein at clinics). The concentration used is far higher than the 3% household antiseptic — 35% H2O2 is an industrial-grade oxidising agent used in food processing.

Colloidal Silver

Nano Silver · Silver Hydrosol

Insufficient Evidence

Colloidal silver consists of tiny silver particles (1–100 nanometres) suspended in liquid. Before antibiotics, silver compounds were used medicinally — silver nitrate for wound infections, silver sutures. Modern colloidal silver products are sold online and at health food stores, ranging from dilute preparations (5–20 ppm) to concentrated versions. Some proponents make it themselves with home electrolysis kits.

Hulda Clark Protocol

Clark Zapper · Parasite Cancer Protocol

Potentially Dangerous

Dr. Hulda Regehr Clark (1928–2009), a Canadian naturopath, proposed in her 1993 book 'The Cure for All Cancers' that all cancer is caused by a liver fluke (Fasciolopsis buski) combined with the presence of isopropyl alcohol in the body. Her protocol has three components: (1) an herbal parasite cleanse (black walnut hull tincture, wormwood, cloves); (2) a 'Zapper' — a device she designed that delivers low-voltage (9V) DC pulses, claimed to kill parasites; and (3) eliminating 'solvents' and 'toxins' from the home and diet. She also developed a 'Syncrometer' — a device claimed to diagnose disease by resonance.

Chlorine Dioxide / MMS

MMS · Miracle Mineral Solution

⚠ Actively Dangerous

Miracle Mineral Solution (MMS) was developed by Jim Humble, a former gold prospector who claimed in a self-published book that a mixture of sodium chlorite (NaClO₂) and an acid (citric acid or hydrochloric acid) — which generates chlorine dioxide (ClO₂) gas — could cure cancer, HIV/AIDS, autism, malaria, and virtually every disease. Chlorine dioxide is a yellow-green gas used industrially as a water disinfectant and paper bleaching agent. MMS is sold as a two-part kit; mixing them produces the chlorine dioxide solution intended for ingestion.

Laetrile / Amygdalin (Vitamin B17)

Laetrile · Amygdalin

Potentially Dangerous

Amygdalin is a naturally occurring cyanogenic glycoside found in the seeds of stone fruits — apricots, bitter almonds, peaches, plums, and apple seeds. Laetrile is a semi-synthetic, patented derivative of amygdalin. In the 1950s, Ernst Krebs Sr. and Jr. promoted amygdalin as 'Vitamin B17' (it is not a vitamin). It was widely promoted as a cancer cure in Mexico and became hugely popular in the 1970s when thousands of American cancer patients travelled to Mexican clinics. It is still available in Mexico and some other countries where it is sold as 'amigdalina' injections.

Baking Soda / Simoncini Protocol

Sodium Bicarbonate Cancer Protocol · Simoncini Protocol

Potentially Dangerous

Dr. Tullio Simoncini, a former Italian oncologist (whose medical licence was subsequently revoked), proposed in his book 'Cancer is a Fungus' that all cancer is a Candida albicans fungal infection, and that injecting sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) directly into tumours kills the Candida and therefore cures the cancer. A wider 'alkaline cancer diet/supplement' movement also promotes oral baking soda supplementation based on the claim that cancer cannot survive in an alkaline environment and that making the body more alkaline prevents or treats cancer.
