Valerian Root
Valeriana officinalis
Valerenic acid from valerian root modulates GABA receptors and reduces anxiety and insomnia — severe quality-of-life issues in cancer patients. Valerian isovaleric acid and valepotriates also show anti-proliferative activity against liver, breast, and colon cancer cells. As a sleep aid it is particularly valuable for cancer patients whose sleep is disrupted by pain, anxiety, and treatment side effects.
