Bitter Melon / Karela
Momordica charantia
Bitter Melon's charantin, vicine, and cucurbitacins show anti-tumour activity against pancreatic, breast, colon, and cervical cancer cells. It activates AMPK (similar mechanism to metformin), induces apoptosis, and inhibits cell proliferation. Blood glucose regulation is directly relevant to cancer as insulin and IGF-1 are tumour growth promoters.
